How SNAP at the farmers market works

Many US farmers markets accept SNAP (formerly food stamps) at a central market booth. You swipe your EBT card for the dollar amount you want to spend, and the market gives you tokens or scrip you can spend with any participating vendor. Some markets also offer "Double Up" or "Market Match" programs that double your SNAP dollars on fresh fruits and vegetables.

Each market page on this site shows whether SNAP is accepted at a central location or per-vendor. Coverage varies by state — check your state's page above.
